How you get paid by Gumroad depends on the country in which you are physically located. 

If your country is not on the list of direct deposit countries, then you can only receive payouts via PayPal. If PayPal doesn't work in your country, then unfortunately, we have no way to pay you. We don't have alternate payment methods for people in this situation right now.

Also note that if you are in one of our direct deposit countries, we will only pay you via PayPal when your customers pay with PayPal.

Payout modes

To get paid for your sales, you must first fill out your payments settings.

Get paid to your bank account

For prompt payouts, please ensure that you have the following for your country of residence:

• A valid, government-issued photo ID
• Proof of residence within the country

Also, if you are selling as a business, the business must be registered in the same country. Having a bank account based in another country will not, unfortunately, allow us to pay you out to that bank account unless you physically live (and can prove residence) in that country.

Direct bank payouts are only available for creators who live in the following countries. Residents of these countries cannot opt out of bank payouts:

Depending on your country, bank payouts can take 2-7 business days to process, and can be delayed around banking holidays.

We can only pay out to a local bank account and in your local currency. We cannot pay you out in USD if you are not from the US.

All currency conversions happen based on the exchange rates at the time of sale, not at the time of the payout. These are typically mid-market rates that you can estimate here.

Get paid to Stripe

You can connect your Stripe account to receive payments for credit card sales directly to your Stripe account. This feature is available in all countries where Stripe operates, except Brazil, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, and Thailand. Learn all about this feature here.

Get paid to PayPal

If bank payouts are not supported in your country, you will be paid out via PayPal. You just need to have an individual or business PayPal account without any restrictions.

PayPal payouts are always processed in USD, and usually in 1-3 business days.

Other payout modes

Unfortunately, we do not support alternative payout modes like Payoneer, Wise, check, money order, wire transfer, etc.

Payout schedule

Each payout is for sales made up to the previous Friday UTC. This means that the sale amount sits in your Gumroad balance for at least 7 days before being paid out. Unfortunately, it is not possible to customize the payout schedule.

You can download a CSV report for each payout from the Payouts dashboard, which includes a breakdown of all Gumroad fees and customer data. 

Enable payments via PayPal

If you have connected your PayPal account with Gumroad, proceeds from all sales via PayPal will be credited to your connected account at the time of sale, in the default currency of your PayPal account. This appears on your Payouts page as “PayPal Payouts”.

The account review process

For our review, we require your account to be legitimate in two major ways:

1. You comply with both Gumroad’s terms and those of our payment processors.
2. Your account is not racking up chargebacks and suspicious purchases.

The review process can take 1-3 weeks depending on your sales and the data we can analyze. Typically, this means 3-4 sales with a balance over US$10; however, every account is unique so we thank you for your patience. 

Note: NSFW account reviews can take longer because they have a higher risk profile.

You cannot speed up the review process by purchasing your own product. Payment processors view purchasing your own products as fraudulent, and this can get you suspended or permanently banned. If you just want to test your product, please use the test purchase feature.
